A: It is not necessary that the harm caused by dog be a bite or actual attack. The statute has been held applicable to injury suffered by a bicyclist who was injured when he quickly dismounted his bike as a dog came running at him and a mail carrier who wrenched his back as he whirled to avoid a dog running past him. Another example might be a motorist injured when and accident results from swerving to miss a dog that runs out at the car.
